Terryglass

The Irish name for Terryglass is Tír Dhá Glas and means ‘land of the two streams’.

The village is located on the R493 regional road on the north-eastern shore of Lough Derg near where the River Shannon enters the Lough. It is a civil parish in the historical barony of Ormond Lower. Terryglass won the Irish Tidy Towns Competition in 1983 and 1997, followed by Tipperary’s Tidiest Village in 2019. More recently, the village won the Pride of Place Award in 2020 – this award recognises improvements made by local communities to create civic pride in their area.

We stayed here for our engagement party and we couldn’t have been happier. The set up in the River Run is amazing, it was so classy and homely and lots of space for having a big group. The room were so comfortable and everything you could need was there. Big thanks to Geraldine for all her kind help in organizing everything and looking after us. This place is just amazing. We had a family gathering here recently, so booked the house and one cottage. From the moment I contacted them, everything was fantastic. The house is immaculate, it has everything you need. The games room out the back is fantastic for kids and teenagers. They had the fire ready to light when we arrived so the place was so cosy after we had lit the fire that eve. The beds are so comfortable and each room seems to be soundproof! As I couldnt hear a sound from downstairs once I had closed my door. The place has an ipad connected to surround sound so you can play your own music etc. Would highly recommend.

Stayed at the Riverrun with family and friends to attend a 50th Birthday Party.  The rooms very amazingly comfortable, clean and warm. We stayed in the beautiful Sage Cottage which had all the facilities you could imagine. The party was held in the main house which was absolutely stunning. There are few occasions when I am stuck for words but it is extremely difficult to find the words to describe Riverrun cottages.. wow, wow, wow!!!!!!!!!From the moment I contacted Geraldine to book a hen party group in until the moment we left today we were treated to over and above 5 star luxury, in all aspects! The smallest of details were thought of, everything we possibly could have wanted was available in the houses. The food.... OMG!!!!!!!!! We had supper freshly prepared on our arrival, continental breakfast the 1st morning, Afternoon tea with prosecco  that day and a full Irish breakfast on the 2nd morning.  The relaxed vibe of Geraldine, Cara and the girls who are absolutely dedicated to the guests spilled over into creating a relaxed weekend for everyone...if you are thinking about staying in the Riverrun, do not give it a 2nd thought; go for it; you wont be sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 Verified 5 Star accommodation!!! Amazing Afternoon Tea
5 🌟 Experience !!!  So glad I discovered these. Beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and the attention to detail in the furnishings and decoration, was just amazing. The beautiful small touches that main it so special. We also had Afternoon Tea, again 5 🌟 in the main house. Wow ... The house is again so tastefully decorated and the setting for the Afternoon Tea, its presentation,the gorgeous selection of both sweet and savoury delights all homemade were incredible. I couldnt but highly recommend River Run and the staff for a weekend break.  Terryglass is a small little village with a lovely walk to the lake the ideal spot to relax and unwind. I look forward to hopefully visiting again at some point. In the meantime thank you to Caragh and her staff for helping me to mark my birthday in style 😊

Caragh very kindly hosted a group of us for new years eve! It was an amazing stay from start to finish! The RR House & Cottages are exquisitely designed and very modern.  Verified Incredible visit to Riverrun
An absolutely incredible stay at Riverrun with a group of friends! All of the the rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and decorated beautifully. We stayed in the main house and the kitchen/ living areas are brilliant to socialise in and also to relax for a cosy evening. You can walk down to the lake from the house and the pub is also less than a 2 minute walk serving delicious food and drink. We can’t wait to return, it was amazing.

Terryglass is situated on the northern banks of Lough Derg – the lake is nestled between counties Clare, Tipperary and Galway with 179km of idyllic shoreline.

Foodies can enjoy the sumptuous surroundings and the very best of locally sourced food in the newly refurbished Derg Inn restaurant, or pop into Paddys for a creamy pint of Guinness in an old style restaurant that has been serving people since 1826.

If you’re feeling adventurous you can take the family to the lakeshore where you can avail of the public barbecues and picnic facilities.
